The End of an Era: Maserati Ghibli Will Be Discontinued After 2024

Since its debut in 1967, the Maserati Ghibli has stunned many in Newton and Wayland with its dazzling prowess and alluring appearance. Unfortunately, the era of the Maserati Ghibli is drawing to an end: there won’t be a 2024 Maserati Ghibli, as the manufacturing of the poster-child sedan will conclude after the 2023 model year. While this news may be better-sweet, this decision was made as a result of Maserati’s shift in focus to producing electronic vehicles. We honor the legacy of Ghibli’s world-class performance and highlights below.

Performance That Will Be Forever Remembered

Contrary to popular belief, no, the Ghibli was not named after Hao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli, despite how fantastical this high-performing sedan is. The term ghibli is the Italian word for “sirocco,” which is a term derived from Libyan Arabic meaning, “hot desert wind.” If you were to stand in the wake of the Ghibli’s speed, the meaning of Ghibli’s name all makes sense. This world-class sedan is indeed the trailblazer when it’s in full force. With the range-topping Trofeo, the Ghibli can clock in speeds of over 200 miles per hour.
