Are Hybrid Cars High Maintenance for Wayland Owners?

So, are hybrid cars high maintenance? The short answer is no. Hybrid vehicles require similar amounts of maintenance as gasoline-powered vehicles. In fact, some components of hybrid vehicles require less maintenance compared to a full gasoline-powered engine. Hybrids are low maintenance and provide reliable and fuel-efficient transportation while still providing the high-performance thrill you love.

Read on to learn about hybrid car maintenance costs

Typical Hybrid Car Maintenance Costs

Now we’ll discuss usual hybrid car maintenance costs for your new or used Maserati. You’ll find that hybrid car maintenance isn’t much different than gasoline-only cars. You’ll need oil changes, tire rotations, and new wiper blades around every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. From 20,000 miles, consider a new air filter. At 50,000 miles, you might need a new 12-volt battery, tires, and brake pads. All of these hybrid car maintenance tasks are the same as if you own a gasoline-only engine.

Because of these tasks, you’ll find that hybrid car maintenance costs and reliability are similar to a normal vehicle. The only exception is the replacement of a hybrid vehicle battery. However, your hybrid battery could last 200,000 miles or more.

Boston Motorsports Maserati features the M-Certified warranty program that covers five years or 100,000 miles for certified pre-owned Maserati vehicles you purchase from us.

Check out some more advice we have regarding hybrid vehicle maintenance costs by maintenance type.

Oil Changes

With oil change intervals remaining similar to standard vehicles, oil changes will cost the same on a hybrid vehicle. We highly recommend full synthetic oil for your high-performance engine.

Batteries

Most hybrid vehicles have two batteries: a standard 12-volt vehicle battery to run the accessories and a hybrid battery. The cost of replacing the 12-volt battery is the same as a gasoline-powered engine. However, the hybrid battery is larger and will probably cost more to replace once it can no longer hold a charge (which will happen eventually but not until it’s well past 100,000 miles).

U.S. law requires that all automakers have an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on all hybrid batteries. That includes any from Maserati.

Other Wear & Tear Maintenance

Aside from hybrid vehicle battery replacements well after 100,000 miles, other wear and tear maintenance items on a hybrid vehicle won’t be much different from any other vehicle.

Benefits of Hybrid Car Maintenance

Hybrid car maintenance isn’t much different from any other dependable Maserati vehicle. But, you get to lower your overall costs of ownership due to increased fuel economy.

Some other benefits of hybrid car maintenance are:

  • Increased Brake Life: Hybrid vehicles use regenerative braking, which converts the momentum of your vehicle to regain some energy for the battery. This means the regular brakes will be used less, resulting in increased brake life.
  • Longer Oil Change Intervals: Since your internal combustion engine may not always be running, the need for oil changes may be less. However, we recommend bringing your Maserati in for an oil change at least every 10,000 miles.
  • Less Overall Maintenance: When the internal combustion engine is used less, there are fewer parts that move, which helps to preserve the parts of your gasoline engine. Electric motors are also very simple and have fewer moving parts that will need to be replaced over time.
